Andy joined the team in April 2023 and is one of our Warehouse Technicians, making sure your hire jobs are ready and waiting for you!
He started off doing tech for school shows and volunteering for his local theatre in Cheltenham. Through that, he found out he could actually study this stuff and make a career of it. Andy studied Sound & Light Technology at Derby University and got a job as a theatre technician.
He then moved to Hertfordshire around 2016 to start life in events and more recently moved up North to join TSS.
What’s a typical day in your current role at TSS?
Anything from preparing a hire job to delivering it and setting it up on-site. Every job is different but the general idea is the same: equipment goes out, equipment comes back, equipment gets cleaned/tested/fixed.
What did you do before joining TSS? Why/how did you get into the industry?
Before joining TSS I’d worked in similar warehouse roles for the events industry, as well as designing lighting, set electrics and a bit of engineering.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like to go climbing, both indoors and outdoors and I am part of a few theatre groups – helping out with lighting and general tech support. I’ll bake sometimes too – chocolate orange brownies or cookies.
What TV show is your guilty pleasure?
Who would you most like to be stranded on a desert island with?
Stranded? The peace and quiet sounds great!
