Education and Sharing Day

Did you know it’s ‘Education and Sharing Day’?

No? Neither did we until we googled international day.

Who doesn’t like random, yet useful knowledge. We defiantly do!

So, let us tell you more about what this day represents.

Education and Sharing Day, all began in 1978 by the U.S. Congress and President Jimmy Carter, commemorates the birthday of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, also known as the Rebbe. Observed annually, this day fluctuates between March 21 and April 21, corresponding to the Rebbe’s birthday on the Hebrew calendar, 11 Nissan.

Rabbi Schneerson’s educational vision extended beyond traditional pedagogy, emphasising virtues such as kindness and honesty alongside academic instruction. Recognising his influential contributions, successive U.S. presidents have issued proclamations honoring his teachings on moral education.

Education and Sharing Day serves as a platform to advocate for holistic education, encompassing intellectual and moral development. It has garnered nationwide recognition, with participation from governors, mayors, and school boards, all united in inspiring young individuals to cultivate both intelligence and compassion.

Celebrating Education and Sharing Day offers an opportunity for interactive and engaging activities, such as:

Kindness Challenge: Turn acts of kindness into a friendly competition, tallying the most compassionate deeds accomplished in a day.
Learning Relay Race: Organize a relay race incorporating educational challenges at each station.
Cultural Potluck: Host a potluck featuring dishes from diverse cultures, accompanied by discussions about each culture’s traditions.
Education Scavenger Hunt: Create a scavenger hunt leading participants to educational resources, culminating in a rewarding educational prize.
Backyard Science Fair: Facilitate a miniature science fair to showcase simple experiments and foster scientific curiosity.
