What’s a typical day in your current role at TSS?

Every day is different, I could be out and about visiting customers, anywhere in the country, manning exhibition stands, attending trade shows.

The next day I could be looking after our Health and Safety function, making sure that we have enough vans for the work we are doing or hiring in when needed.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

Seeing customers coming to us and their business with us growing as they realise just how much we can do to help them.

What did you do before joining TSS?

Catering college, Hotel manager, Quality control engineer, sales manager, stage tech, chief electrician, stage manager, technical / health and safety manager, Technical Stage Services since Oct 2006.

Why/how did you get into the industry?

Fell into the industry, by mistake, I was just filling in between jobs working shows backstage at the Grand Opera House, York, realised it wasn’t like working, much more fun, so stayed. For 15 years.

What are your favourite/most interesting/most unusual gigs/jobsyou’ve done in the past (either at TSS or in previous jobs)?

Conference technician for a week in Mauritius, manged to get a bit of water skiing done during lunch break!!

Negotiating a contract to sell smoke to the Northern Ireland Fire Service

What do you do in your spare time?

Travelling, mainly in the USA (24 states so far) but some of Australia too.

Rallying, just returned after a 20 year break to the co-driverseat!

I have a stupidly powerfull bike that I love riding.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Find a job you really enjoy and you need never work again.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Spend as much as possible on travelling the world first class, rallying, cars, helicopters, boats and motorbikes and squander the rest!
